Mamma-MRI

Accurate breast diagnostics without radiation exposure

Breast MRI is a state-of-the-art and particularly gentle diagnostic method for the early detection and evaluation of breast cancer—without the use of X-rays.

Even in cases of dense breast tissue, even the smallest tumor lesions or precancerous changes can be reliably detected or ruled out. In cases of known breast cancer, breast MRI provides important information for developing a personalized treatment plan and for monitoring the success of treatment.

In addition, this examination is useful for evaluating breast implants in order to detect potential defects or changes at an early stage.

Procedure for the examination

A breast MRI usually takes about 20 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, you lie relaxed on your stomach—your breast is gently supported, but in a much gentler way than during a mammogram.
  • A well-tolerated contrast agent will be administered through a vein, allowing for particularly clear imaging.
  • Images are taken both with and without contrast dye to ensure that any changes can be accurately assessed.

After the examination

The images are interpreted directly by our experienced radiologists. If necessary, the results will be discussed with you in person.

You will also receive:

  • Your test results immediately afterward
  • Access to your secure patient portal
  • Your written medical report is available online

Your treating physician will also receive the results electronically and promptly so that further treatment can be planned.

Your benefits at a glance

  • radiation-free examination
  • exceptionally high diagnostic accuracy
  • ideal for dense breast tissue
  • reliable treatment planning and monitoring of progress
  • state-of-the-art technology and personalized support

We'd like to inform you about... breast cancer.

Extremely dense breast tissue not only makes it difficult to detect tumors on mammograms but also represents a risk factor for the development of breast cancer. A recent study shows that breast MRI in women with extremely dense breast tissue and normal mammography results significantly reduces the rate of so-called interval cancers (breast cancer that develops between two mammograms, i.e., within two years). However, breast MRI plays an important role not only in cancer diagnosis but also in the evaluation of breast implants, for example, when assessing potential damage or capsular contracture.
